As facilities continue to reopen with the loosening of pandemic restrictions, enhanced cleaning programs that include Electrostatic Disinfection are helping to provide ease of mind for employees. Media reports indicate that the return to the workplace has been slower than expected, and property managers are looking for more ways to make tenants and employees feel comfortable entering facilities.
Months after COVID-19 shut down non-essential operations in the nation’s capital, Mister Kleen remains busy servicing commercial and high security facilities with our Enhanced Kleen program. We continue to educate our clients about the cleaning and disinfection protocols that help prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Often, this includes sharing the benefits of Electrostatic Disinfection, including superior application and cost efficiencies in many cases.
We’d like to share our expertise with answers to the top 5 questions we receive about electrostatic disinfection:
Electrostatic spraying covers hard-to-reach areas that conventional trigger sprays may miss. The technique applies the disinfecting product in a more efficient, controlled manner – reducing the potential for overuse of the chemicals. It also significantly reduces the amount of time it takes to disinfect surfaces.
Typically we ask that you wait one to two hours after treatment before entering the area. Once the area is complete and dry, employees can return and resume their normal routine.
Electrostatic spray is safe to use around sensitive surfaces such as upholstery, electronics, and wood. However, we will ask that occupants store some items such as food, coffee/water cups, clothing, and papers before we come in to disinfect the space.
As with all disinfectants, electrostatic spraying kills the germs, bacteria, and viruses on surfaces at the time of application. It does not impart ongoing disinfection benefits. If your workplace is exposed to potentially high levels of pathogens such as SaRS-CoV-2 on a daily basis, you could benefit from regular electrostatic disinfection. Others may want to use it on an as-needed basis, such as when a case of COVID-19 is confirmed or suspected in the office.
