We are proud of our Kleen Team’s efforts to give back to the community, and we’d like to spotlight David Martinez, one of our recruiters who helps acquire talent for the Mister Kleen Team. With 16 years of experience in recruiting, David enjoys working to match the needs of the company with prospective candidates.
“It’s always something different, even though you’re doing the same thing over and over again. You’re dealing with different people with different types of scenarios, with different needs,” says David, who brings 16 years of recruiting experience to the job and a personal perspective to the interviews.
“You put yourself in their shoes and talk about how you can help them to make a difference in terms of not just the job but you know, financial stability, especially nowadays.”
A musical background
David was 6 years old when his family moved from the Philippines to Maryland. His uncle is a pastor at Agape Baptist Church in Washington DC, and he attended services regularly. “I grew up in a musical environment because of my aunt, she loves to sing as part of the choir. I became part of the Praise and Worship Team in our church, and I’ve been performing with them since I was 16 years old.”
A versatile musician, David mainly plays bass guitar but takes a turn on the drums when the occasion calls for it. His mainstream band, Friction Live, plays a variety of musical genres appropriate for the crowd. They’ve played at venues around the region, from the Backyard Grill in Chantilly to Portales Nightclub in Alexandria.
Between commercial gigs, work, and spending time with his wife Stephany, 16-year-old son Jonathan, and 12-year-old daughter Samantha, he still finds time to perform at charitable events with the Praise and Worship Team.
Recent events have included an October benefit show with Filipina actress Donita Rose and her husband, gospel recording artist Felson Palad, and a fundraiser at Open Door Presbyterian Church in Reston that raised about $10,000 for Ukraine and victims of the February earthquake in Turkey and Syria.
