As a commercial cleaning company that specializes in high security cleaning, we train our employees to help identify security vulnerabilities through the Employee Security Awareness Program. We also stay up to date on security trends, including the latest smart phone updates.

Last week Apple released its latest update, iOS 16, that includes new security options including the support of physical security keys.

These physical security keys look like thumb drives and help keep data safe against hacks and breaches.

While security keys may not be necessary for most iPhone users, Apple indicates government employees who have access to valuable information would benefit, according to a Washington Post article

Apple warns that users are responsible for maintaining access to their security keys and if lost, users could be locked out of their account permanently.

Mister Kleen employees are trained to recognize sensitive devices such as physical security keys in our partners’ facilities, and to immediately turn them over to the appropriate representative.

Tips on staying cyber-safe

While physical security keys offer an enhanced layer of protection for those who need it, there are some common security strategies that benefit everyone. Below are some practices that support a safe and secure online presence:

Create strong passwords that are stored securely and changed regularly. Choose passwords with 12-15 letters and characters, and use different passwords for different websites.

Implement two-factor authentication with your online accounts like email and social media. Once enabled, you will be required to enter a one-time code to access your account.

Never open an e-mail attachment or click on a link in a text from someone you don’t know. Even though the message might look legitimate, it may be a scammer trying to get your personal information.

Review the privacy setting on your social media apps regularly. Each app includes its own privacy tools that protect what information you make public on their platforms, as well as limit what information companies can collect about you.

As a specialist in servicing high-security facilities throughout the Washington DC Metro region, we are recognized in the intelligence community for our expertise and experience in cleaning within secure environments.
